What it converts
Pictures
HEIC, WebP, PNG, JPG, BMP, TIFF and GIF convert to JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF or PDF. Photos from an iPhone become JPG in one click. A GIF can also become an MP4.
Video
MP4, MKV, WebM, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV and MPG convert to each other. Any video can also be saved as an MP3 to keep just the sound.
Audio
MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A and Opus convert to each other.
Documents
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF, text and OpenDocument files become PDF. This uses Microsoft Office or LibreOffice already on your computer.
Set up in a minute
-
Download and unzip
Get Satsuma.zip and extract the folder anywhere you like.
-
Run Install.bat
Double-click it. If Windows warns about an unknown app, choose More info, then Run anyway. Satsuma does not need administrator rights.
-
Right-click a file
In File Explorer or on the desktop, choose Convert to (Satsuma). The new file appears beside the original, which is never changed.
Good to know
Windows 11 menu
Windows 11 hides older menu entries under Show more options. Setup offers to turn on the classic full menu so Satsuma shows right away. Sign out and back in after you do.
Pictures on web pages
Satsuma works on files in File Explorer and on the desktop. For a picture on a web page, save it first, then right-click the saved file.
Several files at once
Select more than one file and they convert one at a time. A small pop-up appears as each one finishes.
What it runs on
Satsuma uses the free ffmpeg and ImageMagick programs. Setup downloads them from their own sites into a Satsuma folder in your user profile.
Removing it
Run Uninstall.bat from the same folder. It removes the menu entries and the downloaded converters.
